World Sailing, Virtual Regatta and Swiss Sailing are pleased to announce the launch of the eSailing National Championship Switzerland.
Switzerland is the second nation to launch a eSailing National Championship after Great Britain in March.
Competition begins on 1 April and the top 12 will qualify for the finale which will be held live at the Wind Week Brunnen in Brunnen, Switzerland on Sunday 17 August 2019.
The top ten Swiss sailors will then automatically qualify for the eSailing World Championship Finals PlayOff in September, joining the top 1,000 eSailors in the world. The top eight from the Finals PlayOff will then advance to the Live Final in Bermuda on October 29 for a chance to be crowned World Champion and claim the $10,000 USD prize.
“Worldwide, the community of e-athletes and e-athletes in various sports is growing rapidly. We are reacting to this development with the launch of the Swiss eSailing National Championship,” explains Martin Vogler, President of Swiss Sailing.
“eSailing is a very popular regatta format, both for sailors and those who otherwise have no contact with sailing. Thanks to eSailing, we can introduce sailing in a fun way to non-sailors as well.”
Existing eSailors and new players are invited to race, for free, and the first challenge is available now and can be played on desktop as well as iOS and Android devices:
